The Rotary Club of Accra Legon-East held a free medical screening for the community of Nii Ashaley in the Adjiriganor area. Over four hundred and ninety people living in Nii Ashaley in the Adentan Municipality in Accra on Saturday 26th of September, 2015 received free medical care as part of the medical outreach programme.
The beneficiaries, were screened for various ailments which included Hypertension, Diabetes, Malaria, HIV and Syphilis, Hepatitis B; BMI (Nutritional Assessment). In addition, we provided reading materials on safe sex and family planning and also distributed condoms to the adults. This was followed up with deworming of all participants above the age of 2.
In addition, a total of 250 children under the age of 18 years were registered onto the NHIS (220 newly registered and 30 renewals). This will enable registered children to access free medical care in all government health institutions as well as most private clinics when they are unwell.
